Back Garden Pyromania

A small collection of photographs from a shoot I was at in my back garden. Originally intended for a competition, they probably deserve to be here.

A Guide To Eating Fire

Firstly, find yourself a fire stick. I recommend a Mr Babache model, as they fit perfectly in ones mouth.

Secondly, grap yourself some fuel. Paraffin (Kerosene) or clear Lamp Oil is perfect. Don't use petrol, you are not a car.
Practise moving the stick around, manipulating the flame with your hands and generally avoiding burns.
Posture is the real key to fire eating, and you must remain with your head back and your back straight. Keeping your back straight is a good thing because you need to practise the breathing technique, a deep inhale, with a very slow exhale.

It's good to have a glass of water at hand to remove the nasty taste, and maybe if you do it wrong, putting out your flaming tongue.

Ok, so you've told everyone how cool you are and you are prepared to roast your mouth, so grab some water and prepare for fun fun fun!

Light the stick, waving the flame about like a madman. Then with all the elegance you can muster, swiftly put the flaming wick in your mouth, being careful not to touch the metal on the stick. By now you should be exhaling, and your tongue should be at the back of your mouth, your head tilted back like a sword swallower. Now here's the easy bit, extinguish the flame.

Take a bow, have a drink, you are now a freak like me.
